Hi ,
Can I tell you where my best ideas never show up?
At my desk. When I'm actually trying to have them.
They arrive on my morning bike ride instead. In the shower. Somewhere in the middle of doing something else entirely, right when I've stopped looking for them.
For years I assumed this was just a quirk of mine.
But it turns out it’s how creative ideas work for all of us.
Researchers studying the brain at “moments of insight” have noticed something curious.
Just before a new idea arrives, the brain seems to settle into a calm, open alpha state... that relaxed, absorbed focus you feel when you're lost in something you love.
And then, in the instant of insight itself, a quick burst of gamma. The fastest brainwave state of all. The one researchers keep connecting to clarity, insight and those wonderful aha moments.
In other words, your best ideas may not come from pushing harder. They may come from creating the right conditions and then trusting your brain to do what it already knows how to do.
Which raises a lovely question:
What if you could create those conditions on purpose?
That's exactly what I want to share with you today. But first, a quick reminder.
